Every once in a while you find something that your kids (and family) latches onto.  Birding has grabbed our attention in the last month.  Most excitingly, it has grabbed Hannah’s attention.  NOTHING grabs Hannah’s attention…so this is big.

Southwest Florida actually seems to be a good place to see birds, especially some we would never see up North.  We now have two favorite places to look for birds:  Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Lover’s Key State Park.  The Swamp is just about 5 miles from our house, and Lover’s Key is a small island right between Bonita Beach and Fort Myer’s Beach, in the Gulf of Mexico.

One of the things we’re going to start doing with this blog is recording the birds we see, and adding pictures of them.  Of course that means we need to actually REMEMBER to take the camera with us…phone camera’s, even good ones, just don’t cut it.
